The International Theatre Institute (I.T.I.) was founded in Prague in 1948 by UNESCO and the international theatrical community. There are 100 national centers around the world. The aim of the International Theatre Institute is the exchange of knowledge and practice in the space of performative arts and the creative cooperation among the people of theatre. The chair of the I.T.I. was situated at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris. Since 2015 it has been moved to Shanghai.
